"Time Out!"

The Watercolor Techniques series of classes at the Wilds Art Center in Loveland, Colorado begins January 16, 2008. The classes will be on 4 consecutive Wednesday evenings from 6-9 pm and I'll cover a variety of ways to approach a watercolor painting. One of the techniques I'll teach is my 'purple under painting' which I used in this painting, "Time Out!". You can achieve some impressive shadows by painting this way. Merry Christmas

This 10" x 8" oil, "Miravalle" is the view from my neighborhood on a snowy day. I would like to wish everyone out there a peaceful Holiday season and may you all be content even if you didn't get everything done. Does it really matter anyway?

Rocky Mountain Panoramic

"Rocky Mountain Panoramic" is an oil painting that was accepted into the 2008 Western Spirit Art Show and Sale. The view is from the Beaver Meadows entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. I had to get there by 6 AM to capture the pinks on the peaks.

Flathead Lake

I have had 3 paintings accepted into the Western Spirit Art Show in Cheyenne, Wyoming for March 2008. "Flathead Lake" (24" x 18"pastel) will be in the show. Starving Artists Show and Sale

The Lincoln Gallery in Loveland, Colorado is currently having it's annual Starving Artist sale through the month of December. Come out for Loveland's 2nd Friday artwalk from 6-9pm on December 14th. This oil "The Maroon Bells" is in the show.

Solitude

"Solitude" is a 13" x 5" oil painting I recently finished. The hiking trail is typical of autumn in northern Colorado. I love the tree shadows.

San Juan Capistrano

"San Juan Capistrano" is a watercolor I recently completed. I loved the shadows, flowers and the old architecture of this beautiful mission in southern California. This painting is 28.5" H X 21" W and is currently available.

New Gallery

As of today, my paintings can be seen at the Centennial Galleries of Fine Art, 233 Linden St. Ft. Collins, Colorado. I am proud to have this gallery represent my artwork. "Nymph Lake" and "Cool Ride" will be there for the next month.

Nymph Lake is in Rocky Mountain National Park in northern Colorado. A short and worthwhile hike from Bear Lake brings you to this serene scene with a great view of Longs Peak and the Keyboard of the Winds.

"Aspen Plein Air" (#2) is an original oil painting that is 12"H X 6"W. The aspen grove is on the trail to Alberta Falls in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Drawing for Adults Classes

Art Club (elementary) classes

I will be teaching "Art Club" for ages 9-14 and also for ages 6-8 at the Chilson Recreation Center In Loveland, Colorado starting Oct 8 , Mondays from 4-5:30 pm (ages 9-12) and 6-7 pm (ages 6-8) . It's a fun class where we'll experiment with a different art medium in each class- a great place to experiment with art materials! For more info check out:

Andrews Glacier

"Andrews Glacier" is a 14" x 11" oil painting. The scene is in Rocky Mountain National Park (Colorado) at the end of a scenic hike to The Loch.

"Cool Ride"

"Cool Ride" is a brand new oil painting. (11" x 14") This scene was next to the St. Francis of Asissi church in Taos. I took a painting workshop there last summer. The red convertible Volkswagen Beetle looks like a lot of fun to cruise in. (especially in New Mexico)

Watercolor demo

I'll be at the Lincoln Gallery in Loveland, Colorado on Friday Sept 14th from 6-9pm for the 2nd Friday art walk working on a watercolor/demo. There will also be a sidewalk sale going on in many of the galleries... It's fun, free and should be a beautiful evening for looking at art.

Impressionistic Pastel class

I will be teaching a beginning to intermediate pastel class at the Chilson Recreation Center in Loveland, Colorado beginning Monday, September 17th from 1-3pm.

"The Big Curl" 11" x 14" Oil painting

I was fascinated with the waves in Hawaii. I painted a couple of small paintings of just the waves breaking to really study them. This oil painting is sold now...

New Beach Series

I'll be bringing in part of my new beach/waves series to the Lincoln Gallery in Loveland (Colorado) today. This painting, "Therapy" is an 11" x 14" oil from a favorite beach on Hawaii's Big Island. This was a very therapeutic day I fondly remember....

Watercolor Classes

Hello and welcome to my new blogspot!
Tonight I will begin teaching a new set of watercolor classes in Loveland "Watercolor: Basics and Beyond." I generally teach in sessions of 4- 2 hour classes and many students return since there is always more to learn, experiment with and it's fun. I have a maximum of 8 students in each class so everyone can get personal attention and help with the level they are at.
