"Appeasing Pele" (pastel) was accepted into the 2nd 50 Paint the Parks 2008.

I painted this piece from visiting Hawaii Volcanoes National Park where some Hawaiians still offer gifts to appease the Volcano goddess, Pele. This location is no longer accessible due to volcanic activity.
