A Watercolor painting in progress...

Quite often when I paint with watercolor, I first plan out my painting, saving the whites.  I also like to use a purple under painting to get rich shadows using transparent watercolors.  This progression shows how I build up layers for the finished piece.  At the end of the painting I "pop" the colors and values.  This 28.5" x 21" watercolor of "San Juan Capistrano" is for sale.  Prints are also available through fineartamerica.com
