Group Therapy

I just finished and delivered "Group Therapy", a 15" x 30" oil commission. This collector also has "Therapy" and "The Big Curl" original oils. Together they are a fun, therapeutic group of paintings that I enjoyed painting and even more loved getting the original inspiration from.

Sinopah Mt.

"Sinopah Mt" is an oil I recently finished. I was camped near Two Medicine Lake in Glacier National Park, Montana this summer. I got up early to plein air paint & take reference photos. The colors & reflections were spectacular.

Plein air painting

I had the pleasure of painting in an Aspen grove in Rocky Mountain National Park (Colorado) last week. I had fun with my oils & pallet knife; it felt more like sculpting a painting with all of the paint I used.

Lincoln Gallery's Fall Show 2008

On Friday, October 9th, downtown Loveland comes alive with it's 2nd Friday art walk. I have these oil paintings entered into the Lincoln Gallery's Fall show. The opening is from 6-9pm.

Both paintings are scenes from a weekend in the Maroon Bells when the aspen trees were at their peak and over a foot of snow fell. The colors were gorgeous!

Hiking through a painting

I get a big charge out of revisiting places I have painted, especially being "in" a painting I've done. I'm hiking behind my husband on a favorite hike in Rocky Mt Park just a few days ago.
"Gold Rush" is a pastel I've created from this place.

This pastel is from a favorite hike of a beautiful aspen grove in Rocky Mountain National Park that I plan on hiking in the next few days. The colors should be spectacular!

"Almost Home"

This little 5 x 7" oil is from a scene close to my home. I'm sure the old cottonwood would have stories to tell if it could and puts on a colorful show every autumn.

YMCA of the Rockies workshop

I will be holding a workshop at the YMCA of the Rockies in beautiful Estes Park, Colorado on March 28 & 29, 2009. Even though is it scheduled for next year, it is something to look forward to and is not too early to reserve your space. The workshop has just been added to their website. I painted this piece from visiting Hawaii Volcanoes National Park where some Hawaiians still offer gifts to appease the Volcano goddess, Pele. This location is no longer accessible due to volcanic activity.

Engaging the HeARTS: Long-awaited heart-art project unveiled in Loveland

After years of planning and months of work, the Loveland: City with HeArt’s completed sculptures were unveiled Friday at Civic Center Park.
The 5-foot-tall fiberglass hearts — which follow the lead of other cities’ sculpture projects such as Chicago’s Cows on Parade — were commissioned by local sponsors and decorated by local artists.
It was a project headed by Engaging Loveland, a not-for-profit group that also heads up SummerFest in the Rockies.
Soon the symbols of the Sweetheart City will be sprinkled around Loveland for public viewing and will remain on display through December.
In February, the hearts will be auctioned off, with proceeds supporting Engaging Loveland.

Hearts.....

Watch Fox 31's Good Day Colorado show this Thursday July 10 for a special on the City of Loveland. I will be interviewed along with my friend Pat Saunders-White about the hearts we painted for Engaging Loveland. We will have a LIVE interview at 7AM.

The BIG thing not to miss is the unveiling of the hearts on July 11 at the Foote Lagoon in Loveland with Summerfest of the Rockies. I will post a picture of my finished heart after the unveiling so as not to spoil any surprises....

Plein air painting

I was able to enjoy some watercolor plein air painting among the luscious lupines in full bloom in Northwestern Colorado last weekend. What a treat!

Pastel Society of the Northern Rockies 2008 National Juried Show

"A Walk To Remember" is a pastel painting of mine that was accepted into the "Pastel Extravaganza." This national, juried show of the Pastel Society of the Northern Rockies will be held in 4 different galleries within Loveland, Colorado.
The opening is Friday, June 13, 6-9pm at the following galleries in Loveland:

Timothy's proposal

I recently finished this 12 x 16" pastel. The scene is from Central Park in New York City. My nephew proposed to his bride there and commissioned me to paint a wedding present for him to give to her.
Since I didn't have a photo of the exact moment, I used several different reference photos to compose the scene he had in mind.

Art Walk Demo

I will be painting at the Lincoln Gallery in Loveland, Colorado on Friday, May 9 from 6-9pm for Loveland's 2nd Friday Artwalk. Come out and check out this towns' talent and free entertainment for the evening.
This new oil "Secluded" is 20" x 10". The setting is from Flathead Lake in Montana. I'm looking forward to going back there this summer for more inspiration from this beautiful place.

Celebrate Earth Day!

Take a hike! This 14" x 9" pastel is painted from the Loch in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. I have found many inspirations from this beautiful high mountain lake which is one of many hikes in the park.

Art Club (elementary) classes

My second spring session of Art Club & Art Club Jr starts April 28th at the Chilson center in Loveland, Colorado. Children ages 6-8 and 9-14 are welcome to join one of these classes where I introduce a different medium with each class. We've done acrylic, watercolor, sand painting, air dry clay, model magic, scratch board, sticky mylar, charcoal, pastel among other projects. Art Auction

I have donated a framed print of "San Juan Capistrano" to the New Vision Charter School's art auction which will be held April 1st at 6pm. Proceeds will go to art supplies at the school.

Drawing from Loveland's Past

"Drawing from Loveland's Past" is an adult drawing class I will be teaching at the Loveland Museum May1-22 on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm. This beginner to intermediate class (no experience required) will focus on drawing from the exhibits at the museum as well as an antique still life that will be set up. Spring Show

"Andrews Glacier" (oil) was accepted into the Artist Association of Northern Colorado's National Show for 2008. The show is held at the Lincoln Center in Ft. Collins, CO and the opening is April 5 from 5-8pm. This is a must see, prestigious show which will run through April.

"Sandstone Soldier"

This image is from garden of the gods in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This 7.5" x 7 .5" watercolor with acrylic will be for sale at Mountain Living Studio in Manitou Springs. This piece and "Granite Guardians" are the same size and framed identically and would make a nice pair for your art collection.
