High in the Rockies

"High in the Rockies" is the name of this newly painted/still drying 8.5" x 17.5" original oil painting. The scene is from a backpacking trip in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Early morning mountain lake reflections are always worth getting up for. I have to give my daughter credit for taking the beautiful reference photo that I worked from.  This painting is for sale, contact me for details...

Drawing and Painting in Soft Pastels

I am now offering art classes in my new studio.  Drawing and Painting in Soft Pastels first session will be held February 15, 22, March 1, 8, and 15th, 2011.  This novice-intermediate class is intended for adults and will cover some basics of drawing to incorporate into pastel painting.  The class will be held from 9-12am and the cost is $135 for all 5 classes. I am limiting the class size to 6 to ensure everyone will get plenty of personal attention.

Art Classes for 3-6 year olds 2011

I have been offering "tot" art classes at the Chilson Recreation Center 3 times a year since 2003.  It's fun, is social for the kids and I have many happy repeat students.
Winter Art for Tots
This class is intended for 3-4 year olds to experiment
with art materials and work on their fine motor skills.

Watercolor painting class

How to Paint with Watercolors
You will learn the basics of watercolor and a few new tricks of
the medium. We will cover: brushstrokes, mixing color “recipes”,
painting wet into wet, masking, lifting, glazing, value,
stretching paper, differences in watercolor papers, underpainting
and textures. Start painting simple exercises to get
confident in the medium, then work on a still life, and then a
landscape. There will be a demo and examples at each class but
lots of individual attention will be given to each student since
the class size is limited. No experience required. Each student
needs to bring their own supplies to each class (listed on class
receipt). Min/Max: 6/10
