Holiday Ornaments
grades 2 – 5
Wednesday, December 7, 2:30 – 4:30 pm
Create keepsake ornaments using model magic and embellishments. 

Psychedelic Snowflakes
grades 7 – 12
Wednesday, December 14
2:30 – 4:30 pm
Cut and create unique snowflake designs out of a special absorbent paper, then paint them with brilliant liquid watercolors to make the most funky snowflakes ever!

Autumn Art for Tots

Finger Painting at the Chilson Center
Three times a year I offer art classes for the youngest generation: 3-6 year olds.  Classes are held at the Chilson Recreation Center in Loveland, Colorado. The next set of classes start next week.  To download the PDF file of the  2011 Leisure Times brochure, click here. To register online.

Autumn Art for Tots
Come and play with art materials that will bring out
the budding artist in your 3-4 year old. We'll finger
paint, sculpt with model magic, glue and more - all
with an autumn theme. Each class will be a mini art
lesson and utilize a different medium. We provide
aprons. It can get messy, so wear old clothes. Parents
are welcome to stay, but not required. A $5 supply fee
is due to the instructor at class. Min/Max: 4/8

Art for 4-6 Year Olds
For Pre-K, Kindergartners and Homeschoolers, this
class will let your 4-6 yr old experiment with a variety
of art materials while learning more about art. We'll
try different types of paint, sculpt, glue, cut and more.
Using fine motor skills, a different autumn themed
project will be explored each week. It's best to wear
old clothes, though we provide aprons. Parents are
welcome to stay, but not required. A $5 supply is due

Impressionism class

I am teaching  an "Impressionism" class at the Loveland Museum Gallery Wednesday, Nov 2 for 3rd-6th grades. More details .   
I have painted a variety of Impressionistic landscapes over the years.  This pastel is sold but other prints can be purchased through fine art america.

Art Club openings

I will begin teaching a series of Art Club Classes at the Chilson Recreation Center (Loveland, Colorado) beginning Oct 5, 2011.  Both classes will run and have a few spots left.

Art Club Jr's: Painting
Experiment with a variety of painting mediums while learning
some basic art principles. Also learn about mixing colors while
your child experiences working with watercolors, acrylic, watercolor
dye
and sand painting. We will finish a new project and try a
new medium with each class. Aprons are provided, but wear old
clothes. A $10 supply fee is due to the instructor at the first class.

Grades 7 – 12
Thursday, September 15, 3:30 pm – 6:00 pm
Have some fun mimicking one of Andy Warhol's funky pop art pieces with acrylic paint.

Art History Series: Pointillism
Grades 4 – 7
Wednesday, September 21, 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Create a colorful landscape using dots of paint that will come together as you step away from your painting.

Art History Series: Expressionism
Grades 3 – 6
Wednesday, September 28, 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Paint your own version of Edvard Munch's "The Scream" using soft pastels.

Art History Series: Realism
Grades 7 – 12
Thursday, October 20, 3:30 pm – 6:00 pm
After a tour of the Museum’s Chuck Close exhibit, learn how to draw a face realistically with a tight grid. Bring a black and white photo portrait (8 x 10) of yourself or someone you want to draw.

Art History Series: Impressionism
Grades 3 – 6
Wednesday, November 2, 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Learn how and why the Impressionists painted by recreating one of Monet's haystacks with acrylic paint on canvas.

sand and creating a collage are some of the possibilities.

Brilliant Tropical Fish

That's right, kids (grades 1-3) can paint large colorful fish with watercolors! Join instructor/artist Mary Giacomini at our upcoming youth class appropriately titled "Brilliant Tropical Fish". Spring Art Club

Elementary Art Students:
Widen your art experience by using materials that you may not
have access to at school or at home. We will paint a wooden
decorative birdhouse with acrylic paint. On the second class, we’ll
decorate it with a variety of materials to make it a unique piece
of (indoor) art to keep. You will also make sand paintings and use
liquid watercolor to create an underwater coral reef scene

Homeschool Art Project: Painted Birdhouses

My home school group of artists finished painting and decorating their wooden birdhouses this week.  We worked on the project over 3 classes. The girls were pretty proud about their acrylic painted creation...for good reason-they were fun and turned out great!
