Classes at the Loveland Museum Gallery

I'm teaching several classes at the Loveland Museum Gallery this fall. The next one up is Monet's Haystacks. This class is for Kindergarden through Fifth grades. We'll use acrylic paint on canvas boards and learn how to paint Monet's Impressionistic Haystacks.

The next week I'll teach Permission to Play With Your Food for the same age groups. We'll use Model Magic to make tiny little  food sculptures.  The Loveland Museum Gallery's classes are a great way to introduce you or your child to art. All supplies are included.

Oil Painting Classes

McGregor Ranch Oil (sold)
I teach beginning and intermediate oil painting classes out of my home  art studio in West Loveland, Colorado.  The classes are limited to 5 students to ensure lots of private instruction. Here is my schedule for fall 2012.  You can contact me for openings.

October 11 & 18  Impressionistic landscapes
We'll work in the style of the French impressionists; using dabs of complimentary colors to make your painting vibrant.  Pick your own landscape/photo or use one that I will supply.   The technique works for any subject matter.
Oct 25 & Nov 1   Harvest with Antiques
We'll work on composition and paint a still life using fall produce with  fun antiques.  If you have anything you'd like to ad, that would be great.
Nov 8    Can this painting be saved?
Bring your old oil or acrylic (yes oil can go on top of acrylic but not the other way around) painting/s  you are "stuck" on & we'll see if it can be salvaged. Nothing ventured, nothing gained :)  If you have nothing old, start something new of your choice...or finish up paintings from   other classes
Nov 15  Pallet knife painting
Bring the subject of your choice (simple is better) & we'll swirl thick paint (bring Res n gel to be liberal) like Van Gogh
Nov 29  & Dec 6  Snow Scenes
We'll paint winter scenes; (you may want to use to make a Christmas card-I'll show you how)
Dec 13 & 20   Miniatures
We'll paint small (good excuse to get out those tiny brushes & futz) scenes to keep or  they would make marvelous gifts.

Dancing on the Keyboards

"Dancing on the Keyboards"
This new oil painting was inspired by a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.  We were on our way to Mills Lake with a gorgeous view of Longs Peak. Right before we got to the high alpine lake there was a perfect reflection of Longs and the Keyboard of the Winds.  This original oil painting is for sale, inquire for availability. Prints and cards can be ordered through Fine Art America.

Shavasana

Shavasana
I recently finished "Shavasana" which is an original oil painting on panel.  The scene is of a peaceful, remote lake in Ontario, Canada.  I got up early to capture the perfect stillness of the water with the mist rising with the sun.  The canoe is waiting for someone to break the reflection and paddle around the lake.
This painting is for sale; please inquire for current availability.

New paintings to The Grand Lake Gallery

Nymph Lake
I brought a new set of paintings to The Grand Lake Art Gallery in Grand Lake, Colorado this week. This painting, "Nymph Lake" is a 24" x 18" original pastel that is for sale there.  With a record breaking hot summer I thought looking at some fresh snow might be refreshing.  Nymph Lake is a short hike in Rocky Mountain National Park with a beautiful view of Longs Peak and the Keyboard of the Winds.

Walking With Dad

Walking with Dad
This new pastel painting, " Walking With Dad" is a newly finished commission.  My client described how she remembers going for hikes in the Black Hills Canyon (South Dakota) with her sister as a child.  The sisters wanted to this painting created for their Dad.  She sent a few references pictures but nothing with the family hiking.  After lots of research and sketching I came up with this composition.  The painting is sold but prints are available through Fine Art America.

Meditation

Meditation
This is a brand new pastel painting for 2012.  "Meditation" is 7.5" high x 18" wide with soft pastel on Wallis paper.   The scene is from a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado at Bierstadt Lake, a short but steep hike to this pristine alpine lake. Snow was falling at even higher elevations that day in autumn. When you reach a beautiful spot in the wilderness, it's good to take some time to meditate. This painting currently is for sale.
