Lincoln Gallery's National Show

Mesa Arch
I'm proud to announce that my watercolor, Mesa Arch was accepted into the Lincoln Gallery (Loveland, CO) National Show which opens March 31.  The opening is April 14, 2017 from 6-9 PM and the public is invited to attend.
I played with a new technique with this original watercolor.  I masked spaces and let the paint flow within each space. I wanted to keep the paint as fresh as possible so used very little to no glazing.  I also used a limited pallet which helps give the painting cohesiveness. The scene was inspired by the gorgeous view in Canyonlands National Park in Utah.  This painting is available for sale.

Taos Welcome

"Taos Welcome"
"Taos Welcome" is a little watercolor with pastel painting I recently sold at Centennial Galleries in Fort Collins.  Finding inspiration with the adobe colors is always easy in the colorful southwest.  More of my art can be seen online:

A Watercolor painting in progress...

Quite often when I paint with watercolor, I first plan out my painting, saving the whites.  I also like to use a purple under painting to get rich shadows using transparent watercolors.  This progression shows how I build up layers for the finished piece.  At the end of the painting I "pop" the colors and values.  This 28.5" x 21" watercolor of "San Juan Capistrano" is for sale.  Prints are also available through fineartamerica.com

Please CONTACT me if you have any questions.

Red Convertible VW Beetle

Directly across the parking lot from the St. Francis of Assisi mission was an adobe home with a very fun ride.  I named the red VW beetle "Cool Ride".  This original oil is sold.

St Francis of Assisi

I painted "St Francis of Assisi" in watercolor after a painting trip to Taos, New Mexico.  This is the famous old church that Georgia O'Keeffe painted except mine is in a realistic style.

This painting is sold, but you can see more of my artwork at these sites:

The Courtyard

"The Courtyard" is a 14" x 11" original oil painting of the adobe courtyards in Taos, New Mexico.  I had fun with the dappled shadows and strong sunlight.  Although this painting is sold, prints on paper or canvas can be ordered through fineartamerica.com.  This link will take you directly there.

Pepper Shadows

"Pepper Shadows" is another little watercolor (sold) inspired by the vibrant colors of the Southwest.  When in Taos, New Mexico I was intrigued by the variety of colors in the Mexican blankets,   red chili's, pottery  and their cast shadows as the sun sank.
