Pastel Society of the Northern Rockies 2008 National Juried Show

"A Walk To Remember" is a pastel painting of mine that was accepted into the "Pastel Extravaganza." This national, juried show of the Pastel Society of the Northern Rockies will be held in 4 different galleries within Loveland, Colorado.
The opening is Friday, June 13, 6-9pm at the following galleries in Loveland:

Independence Gallery
Art of the Rockies Gallery
both located at 440 N Lincoln Ave
Sage Moon Originals
116 W 4th St
Gallery of the Masters
343 E 7th St
*all are easily within walking distance and the opening is the same night as 2nd Friday Artwalk.

Timothy's proposal

I recently finished this 12 x 16" pastel. The scene is from Central Park in New York City. My nephew proposed to his bride there and commissioned me to paint a wedding present for him to give to her.
Since I didn't have a photo of the exact moment, I used several different reference photos to compose the scene he had in mind.

Plein air Watercolor Painting Classes

I am offering two different adult watercolor classes through the Loveland Museum this summer. Both classes will meet outdoors to paint like the Impressionists did.

The first class is " Landscapes and Flowers of Loveland"
Wednesdays: June 4, 11, 18, 8:30 am– 11:30 am

"Painting Loveland’s Past : Historic Buildings and Sites"
Wednesdays; August 6, 13, 20, 27, 9 am – 12 noon

Portrait Sessions

I've been attending the open studio portrait sessions at Wilds Art Center on Tuesday evenings. These are a couple of examples of what I do in a 3 hour portrait session with pastels.

Art Walk Demo

I will be painting at the Lincoln Gallery in Loveland, Colorado on Friday, May 9 from 6-9pm for Loveland's 2nd Friday Artwalk. Come out and check out this towns' talent and free entertainment for the evening.
This new oil "Secluded" is 20" x 10". The setting is from Flathead Lake in Montana. I'm looking forward to going back there this summer for more inspiration from this beautiful place.

Celebrate Earth Day!

Take a hike! This 14" x 9" pastel is painted from the Loch in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. I have found many inspirations from this beautiful high mountain lake which is one of many hikes in the park.

Art Club (elementary) classes

My second spring session of Art Club & Art Club Jr starts April 28th at the Chilson center in Loveland, Colorado. Children ages 6-8 and 9-14 are welcome to join one of these classes where I introduce a different medium with each class. We've done acrylic, watercolor, sand painting, air dry clay, model magic, scratch board, sticky mylar, charcoal, pastel among other projects. It's a great place to experiment, meet some new friends and learn a bit more about art. For more info, check out their web page:

I've been having a bit of fun playing with old watercolor paintings and making them into one of a kind note cards. It's fun to try something different!

Art Auction

I have donated a framed print of "San Juan Capistrano" to the New Vision Charter School's art auction which will be held April 1st at 6pm. Proceeds will go to art supplies at the school.

Drawing from Loveland's Past

"Drawing from Loveland's Past" is an adult drawing class I will be teaching at the Loveland Museum May1-22 on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm. This beginner to intermediate class (no experience required) will focus on drawing from the exhibits at the museum as well as an antique still life that will be set up. Spring Show

"Andrews Glacier" (oil) was accepted into the Artist Association of Northern Colorado's National Show for 2008. The show is held at the Lincoln Center in Ft. Collins, CO and the opening is April 5 from 5-8pm. This is a must see, prestigious show which will run through April.
